About Me

I’m Eric Parsons, an ordained elder in the Church of the Nazarene, with a Master of Arts in Theological Studies (MA(TS)) from Nazarene Theological Seminary. Born and raised in Moundsville, West Virginia, I now live in Commercial Point, Ohio, serving as a pastor at Redemption City Church in Columbus. I’ve been married to my wife, Aunalie, for 26 years as of 2025, and we have three children: James (25), Kristopher (23), and our angel baby, Chance, who we lost in 2009. My Appalachian roots shape my perspective, grounding my faith in the rugged beauty and resilient spirit of West Virginia.

If you had told me thirty years ago that this was the path I would have taken, I would have either laughed at you or have been sorely disappointed. My dream was to be a USAF fighter pilot and I put all of my efforts to achieve that goal–even receiving an appointment to the US Air Force Academy class of 2000, a fact that I remain proud of to this day. Due to an injury, that did not work out as intended, and sent me on a very interesting journey.

This blog is my space to explore scripture, especially the vivid imagery of Revelation, blending scholarly insight with devotional heart. I aim to teach the Bible’s historical and theological depth, inspire readers to encounter God through meditative engagement, and challenge misconceptions that obscure the gospel’s call to faithfulness. Whether unpacking apocalyptic visions or reflecting on worship, I draw from my studies and personal experiences to make theology accessible and transformative.

Outside the pulpit, I find joy in astrophotography, capturing the cosmos with my telescope, building model airplanes with historical precision, fishing for smallmouth bass in quiet streams, hiking rugged trails, and diving into non-fiction on history and science. These pursuits remind me of God’s intricate creation. Join me in wrestling with scripture and growing closer to the God who reigns from the throne room.
